An island of the Meuse
Stevensweert, together with Ohé en Laak, make up what is called the 'Island on the Meuse', an island formed by two (former) arms of the river. The main stream of the Meuse river, on which Stevensweert is located, forms the natural marking of the border with Belgium and is therefore also called Grensmaas.
