Below you can find a number of outings and tips for what you can do during the summer in Midden-Limburg.
The Maasplassen form the largest continuous water sports area in the Netherlands. It is especially lovely here in the summer. Rent a sloop or paddle bike from the MRT Harbor and explore the surroundings. Try your hand (and foot) on the SUP board or E-Foil. You can even attempt to master the SUP Bike! Naturally, you can also just go swimming in De Grote Hegge. Simply take a beach towel with you to the MRT Beach and enjoy a day filled with water and sun.
Wish to come on by with your own boat? That’s possible too! If you’re a park guest, you can dock your boat at the marina and spend the night in one of our luxury villas, apartments, or hotel rooms.
You can’t say summer without saying swimming, and at Parc Maasresidence Thorn there are ample swimming opportunities. The MRT Pool consists of no less than three pools: the kiddie pool, the main pool, and the whirlpool!
No swimming pool can truly call itself a pool without a long slide. Whiz on downwards and catch your breath on the comfortable sunbeds after.
A beach? So far from the sea?! Of course! The unique private beach of Parc Maasresidence Thorn beckons all park guests to come on by for an afternoon of swimming, sunning, playing sports, and beach games!
At the MRT Beach, you can also try out the SUP Boards, the E-Foils, and the SUP Bikes. Let the riveting fun begin!
The summer also has a lot to offer to our younger guests. Our loveable park mascot, Happy Benny, and his animation team will be present during the holidays, with all kinds of fun games, workshops, treasure hunts, and more!
At the MRT Promenade, you will find the Kids Club. Here, children can also be entertained by a whole array of activities, including a mini disco!

Check out the unique local shops of Maastricht, the Designer Outlet in Roermond, the Weerterland Premium Outlet in Weert, or you can even try the beating retail heart of Düsseldorf.
For every hobbyist, culture enthusiast, musical fanatic, and gastronomical adventurist, something unique can be found in the area. For example, you can lend an ear to André Rieu on the Vrijthof between the 4th and 21st of July or attend the Solar Weekend in Roermond between the 1st and 4th of August. Naturally, the fields near Heerlen will go absolutely wild from the the 21st till the 23rd of June with the 2024 edition of Pinkpop!
Coming summer, there will also be several markets and festivals. Visit the International History Festival in Panningen or the yearly summer market.
