Hello everyone! Today I would like to tell you about – oh hold on, just need to take these cucumber slices from my eyes – today I would like to tell you about planning – woops, my peeling mask is ready to be removed – there we go – today I would like to tell you about planning a spa day at Parc Maasresidence Thorn. I have contemplating whether I should write this blog at all. Not because it isn’t a good idea, but I was really comfortable in my bubble bath just now. After having churned and splashed a little longer, I decided that you deserve to feel chill as well. So, pull on some loose-fitted clothing, find your flip flops, lather yourself in sunscreen, slap on some sunglasses and prepare for a… super…….. relaxing………. slow…………………………………spa day.
The most important part of planning a proper spa day is having a good station of operations. This is where you start and where you end, so it needs to be riddled with amenities bless a good rest. Lots of villa-types at Parc Maasresidence Thorn have a sauna. A strong start, but we can do better. Recently, the resort has opened up its Wellness and Premium Island villa’s for booking. Now we’re talking!
The Wellness villa is in a class of its own. This bad boy is designed to stimulate total comfort. The garden boasts a state-of-the-art barrel sauna; a large, heated wooden cylinder that lies on its side. The cabin is a relaxation factory of sorts. You enter with a tense body and a head overflowing with thoughts and you come out half-baked with a broad smile on your face. Afterward, you can rinse yourself under the outdoor shower… or… choose to slide into wooden tub. The Wellness villa is the first accommodation at Parc Maasresidence Thorn that features this type of outdoor bath, and let me tell you, it’s highly decadent! But you’re here to relax, so it’s fine. Pro tip: buy some bath, foams, or a bath bomb if you wish to submerge from the tub with smooth, silky skin.
And then there’s the Premium Island; a rich, roman emperor that pompously looks out across the Maasplassen from his green chaise lounge. This villa also humbles its visitors with several unique characteristics, including a panorama sauna that looks out across the pensive waters, where boats, pedal bikes, and SUP-boarders casually bob on by. The en-suite bathroom that hosts the sauna also houses a luxurious bubble bath. No other spot in the park offers this much wellness luxury packed on a 12m2 parcel!
Once you have settled at your villa, I would suggest leisurely sauntering toward MRT Beach. Rent a lazy beanie bag, deck chair, or sunbed for the afternoon and prepare to stay immobilized for the coming three hours, with a splash in the water or a refreshing smoothie from Beach Bar Naut. being extraordinary exceptions to the rule. Apply some sunscreen or skin care products if necessary, and then let the sun go to work on you gleaming skin while you finish your sudoku or crossword. Look up to inspect the people on the SUP-bikes, E-Foils, and the Monster SUP’s from E-Flow and SUP Bike Tours every once in a while. Looks cool, but not your cup of tea today. Maybe you should come back and give them a whirl tomorrow, when your spa day is over. For now, however, you entrust your blazing body to the expertise of the Zensitive massage clinic. Yes, you can simply book a massage at the beach! Surrender yourself to the moment and let your body be a ball of dough, kneaded to perfection by professional hands.
During a spa day, there are three things you can never have enough of: water, water, and water. From the beach, take a stroll back to MRT Pool, chuck your towel on one of the sunbeds and bob around in the heated indoor pool with your eyes closed. Your thoughts? Everywhere. Nowhere. Your body? In a state of tranquil paralysis. Let time eb away as every muscle, every joint, and every knot in your body slowly dissolves. Tap into your last remnant of energy to flop into the bubble bath where you’ll be steamed to perfection like the lovely little dumpling you are.
My oh my, what a day! I’m surprised all that relaxation didn’t starve your right out! After having treated your body and soul, it’s high time to pay a little attention to your tummy. If only you can find a restaurant that had Burgundian food that makes you feel good as its motto. Hold on a darn moment, that’s the motto of Humphrey’s Thorn restaurant! Their Burgundian, Mediterranean, and Asian-style fusion kitchen offers a palette of exciting new tastes that feel familiar and homely at the same time. Try out the Asian Coq au Vin or the Pjneapple Carpaccio and you will understand my gist! Meanwhile, don’t forget to look out across the Maasplassen. The restaurant offers a grand view across the marina, the quaint blue drawbridge and the lush lakes beyond.
I’m sorry, but it’s time to move once more. Luckily, it’s the last leg of the journey, bringing you back home to your Premium Island or Wellness villa for the final turndown ritual. Last rays of sunshine reach out to the orange-pink skyline and hold on for long enough to give you a final present: the best view Parc Maasresidence Thorn has to offer. Follow suit with the sun as both of you slowly recline; you, in your deck chair; the sun in the shimmering waters of the Maasplassen. Like a disco ball, the light of the sun is shattered upon thousands of little waves. The sky shifts from orange to red to purple. A chill breeze leaves goosebumps on your skin; a gentle reminder that it’s time to go inside. You head on up to your bed, where you place your fulfilled head on the soft pillow and mold the comfy box spring to your body before slowly drifting away… light as a feather.
