For six months now, I have been walking past the bright wooden panels, the platformed terrace, and the spiraling slide of the swimming pool that stands out prominently across from the MRT Promenade. Every day, I look longingly at those blue tiles that still remain as dry as the first day I saw them...
But...
All that is about to change. It is finally confirmed: the MRT Pool will open on the 21st of October! With their sleeves rolled up and their heads held high, the Parc Maasreisdence Thorn team in collaboration with Arcus Zuid Projectontwikkeling BV en Maasveste Berben Bouw BV have truly delivered on their promises these past couple of weeks. Besides the guaranteed fun on the waters of the Maasplassen, we are now proud to offer every visitor boundless entertainment in our indoor pool as well!
The MRT Pool area consists of three separate pools. As you exit the large changing rooms, the first thing you encounter is the children's pool. The shallow pool is partially enclosed by a tiled wall, allowing children to splash and play around with the water jets safely. Chairs and sun loungers surround the area so that you as a parent can also enjoy yourself whilst keeping an eye on the children.
A few steps around the corner, on a slightly elevated rise, the warm water of the whirlpool bubbles. Here, you can slowly sit back and let go of all stress and responsibility.
If you squint through the steam of the whirlpool, you will see the main swimming pool! Its bright waters occupy the largest part of the complex and were designed with every attention to detail. You can swim and splash around in the 7-cornered pool while looking out over the blue drawbridge and De Grote Hegge in the distance.
Of course, there is also a slide! Right next to the large pool, a staircase leads to an exciting winding slide that juts out the side of the building and then circles back inside.
I always truly enjoy my stay in one of the colorful brick villas of Parc Maasresidence Thorn. This autumn, I'm going back to enjoy Humphrey's restaurant, walk through nature, and have a drink on the terrace; and if the Maasplassen are too cold, I'll just take a dip in the new pool instead!
