Wake up in my tent bed, roll up the flaps, and run down the stairs. Run back up. Wake up sister. Run back down. Sandwich with cheese, sandwich with Nutella, a glass of milk, and time to go outside and play with the other children. Oh wait, first I have to go back upstairs to brush my teeth. Today, I’m Jack the Pirate.
At the playground, I climb in the highest mast, scramble across the deck, and slide straight from the ship into the sand sea, because Jack the Pirate fears nothing and nobody! The other children are my pirate companions, and my sister is Captain Flowerpants. We’re being called in. Mom and Dad are taking us somewhere. It will probably be stupid because I just want to stay here and play.
Mom and Dad won’t tell us where we are driving, so my sister and I play the shouting game. Mom and Dad tell us to be quiet. They don’t understand the screaming game. “Look guys, we’re here!”. I look out of the window and start bouncing up and down with joy. Toverland! I have been talking about Toverland for three days, and now we’re here! First, I want to go into the Fēnix, and then in the Troy, and then in the Scorpios, and then in the Fēnix once more, and then with my sister in Merlin’s Quest, and then maybe the Fēnix one last time.
I’m tired and a little dizzy, but I’m allowed to take my cotton candy back into the car as long as I don’t touch the windows. We’re too tired to play the shouting game, so I silently look out of the window, across the water. I’m imagining there’s a little action figure that runs along with the car, but Dad said I need to stop because I was making the window dirty with my sticky fingers. They are not that sticky. We arrived home and we’re allowed to eat at Humphrey’s Thorn. Soup and pizza and ice cream. I couldn’t finish the ice cream, so Mom ate it. Time to go back to the Kids Special villa where Mom puts us to bed. I tell her that I’m ready for my ice cream, but she says it’s too late. One more story about little gnomes and talking stones at Toverland before the lights go out.
Wake up in my tent bed, roll up the flaps, and run down the stairs. Run back up. Wake my sister. Run back down. Sandwich with cheese, sandwich with Nutella, a glass of milk, and time to go outside and play with the other children. Oh wait, first I have to go back upstairs to brush my teeth. Today, Mom wants to go shopping in Roermond. My sister and I won’t go, but that’s okay because I have enough clothes and Dad is taking us to see Happy Benny again! Happy Benny is the large, friendly dog that walks around the resort. I have already hugged him three times and my sister even got his autograph! Today, he thought of a super cool game. We’re going to race down the slides! In the end, I came third, but the 1st and 2nd place must have cheated somehow. Now, it’s time for a super long marble track. It’s soooo long. Longer than I am tall! My sister accidentally kicks it over and the other kids get angry, but I tell them to stop and hug my little sister. In the meantime, the grownups had already fixed the track. My green marble was superfast, but now it’s time for the mini disco. At first, I was a little scared to dance in front of the others, but Happy Benny showed me some cool moves, and now I’m the best dancer.
In the evening, we’re going for dinner at the pancake restaurant in Thorn. That’s pretty nice because I happen to love pancakes. Pancakes with Nutella are the best, so I take one of those. Mom looks very pretty in her new clothes. My sister really loves Mom’s flowery dress. Too bad there are Nutella stains on them now. Time to head back to Parc Maasresidence Thorn. I’m tired and have a round pancake belly. One more funny story about the Nutella monster and then it’s time to close my eyes.
Back down. Back up. Grab my swim trunks, floaties, and goggles. We’re going to the MRT Pool! The kids from the neighbors, Pirate John and Lisa, are coming as well! Today, I really, really want to go down the big slide. Last time I was too scared, but now, Dad will go with me. It’s a long climb up and at the top, I’m still a little scared. But then, splash! That was super fun and not scary at all! Let’s go again, and again, and then again with John the Pirate. Over to the whirlpool. Way too warm! Let’s go to my sister in the kiddie pool instead. Another round of pirates? Our ship has sunk, and we need to swim to the nearest island. Luckily, Mom and Dad are standing there with ice cream!
Pirate John and Lisa can come bowling with us. We’re heading for the bowling alley above the reception. The bowling ball is super heavy, but Jack Pirate has to prove to John Pirate how strong he is. I hit the pins without using any of the fences! My sister uses the elephant slide and the fences, but she is also younger and weaker than I am. It’s time to say goodbye to Pirate John and Lisa. Before they leave, I teach them the shouting game so that they can show their parents on their way home.
Back at the villa, Mom made our favorite meal. Spaghetti with spinach and cucumber salad! Afterward, we're allowed to play in the play corner for a little longer before going to bed. My sister and I make a drawing of the swimming pool. Mom and Dad think it’s very pretty. Makes sense, because we are very good at drawing.
Off to bed. One more story about a lonely shark that is lost in the pool and then it’s time to sleep. I close my eyes. I see Happy Benny and the Fēnix, the pirate ship and the marble track, the play corner and the long slide. School starts the day after tomorrow. So stupid. But tomorrow, I can go up and down the stairs as Jack the Pirate one more time.
